Fall Writing Classes by Tiffany Reisz at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning in Lexington, KY:
October 14, 2017 — Plotting 101 (one-time in-person class — advance registration required)
The plot is the most basic element of a novel that makes it a novel and yet learning to plot is one of the harder tasks of the fiction writer. All writers have asked themselves: What is a plot? Do I really need one in my novel? How do I structure my plot? Do I really have to outline? Are there any easy plotting methods I can use to figure out a bestselling plot? All these questions and more will be asked and answered during this two-hour seminar with international bestselling novelist Tiffany Reisz.
October 28, 2017 — Dialogue: Beyond "He Said, She Said" (one-time in-person class — advance registration required)
Nothing sinks a story faster than bad dialogue, and nothing sets a story soaring more than good dialogue. There’s no better, faster, easier way to create memorable characters than by putting great words in their mouths. But how does a writer go about creating strong dialogue for characters? This class will teach aspiring and published writers how to spot bad dialogue in their own writing and how to replace it with the good stuff that will keep your readers saying, “I wish I’d said that.”

Mona Lisa St. James made a deathbed promise that she would do anything to save her mother's art gallery. Unfortunately, not only is The Red painted red, but it's in the red.
Just as she realizes she has no choice but to sell it, a mysterious man comes in after closing time and makes her an offer: He will save The Red if she agrees to submit to him for the period of one year.
The man is handsome, English, and terribly tempting...but surely her mother didn't mean for Mona to sell herself to a stranger. Then again, she did promise to do anything to save The Red...
